By train between St Petersburg and Helsinki...
 

From St Petersburg, RUSSIA, "Allegro" travels to Helsinki in around 3.5 hours. There are 4 departures each day making a day or weekend trip a possibility, however visas are required for Russia which must applied for in your home country. Vainikkala is the border crossing however passport checks are carried on-board whilst the train is moving.

Tickets can be purchased from www.vr.fi and start from around €68 one-way in a 4-berth compartment (2nd class) or €101 one-way in a 2-berth compartment (1st class).
